Monica joined GAC Norway on October 1, 2024. With a solid foundation in business from Handelsinstituttet in Bergen, she built over 12 years of expertise as a Customs Broker at Bring Cargo before transitioning to a Customs Consultant role at Tollkonsult AS, where she spent the last 4.5 years. Now, she’s ready to bring her wealth of knowledge and skills into the dynamic world of shipping.
From her leader Terje “Over the course of my career, our paths have crossed many times, and early on, it became clear that Monica was someone we wanted to have on our side. Her expertise, approach to problem-solving, and strong reputation in the customs sector made her a standout, and we’re thrilled that she has now chosen to bring her talents to our organization.
With years of experience and a diverse background, Monica offers a fresh perspective that will enhance our ability to provide top-tier service and solutions for our clients. Her knowledge from various industry angles broadens our capabilities, helping us deliver even more tailored, effective strategies in the complex customs landscape.
Monica’s arrival is a significant step forward for us, and we look forward to the exciting opportunities her addition will create as we continue to evolve and expand. Welcome, Monica – we’re excited to see what we can achieve together!”
Tell us a bit about yourself and your background.
I grew up in Tøsdal, a place in Os Kommune, where I lived on a farm with my parents, brother, grandparents, and cousin. It was a great place to grow up—surrounded by family, hard work, and a sense of community.
What is your family like?
We are a large family known for our sense of humor and our practical approach to life. We also have a great love for storytelling, especially tales from earlier times.
Why did you want to work at GAC Norway?
I saw an exciting opportunity to dive into the shipping industry and apply my customs expertise in a new environment. I look forward to learning more about shipping and working with a team that has such a broad range of knowledge and experience.
If you could visit any GAC office in the world, where would it be and why?
I would probably choose an office in either Europe or Africa. It would be a great experience to see how they operate in different regions and to understand their work culture better.
What makes you happy at work and outside of work?
At work, it’s the good colleagues, the variety of tasks, and the chance to discuss problems to find effective solutions together. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, and getting away to our cabin in the mountains for some fresh air and relaxation.
What’s something we might not know about you?
I am actually the chairperson of the logistics association for the Vestlandet region.
Is there anything you would like to share with your new colleagues?
I’m looking forward to working with everyone here and learning from all the expertise around me.
