Get to know Torbjørn Sæbø: A new shipping agent

We’re thrilled to introduce Torbjørn, who joined GAC Norway on September 2, 2024. Coming from the beautiful island of Radøy in Nordhordland, he brings a fresh perspective and a unique mix of skills to our team. Let’s dive into his journey  and his thoughts on what’s ahead.

What motivated you to join GAC Norway, and can you share a bit about your background?

I’ve always had a strong interest in preparedness and crisis management, which I’m currently studying at Høgskolen i Innlandet. Before this, I studied music at Bergen Private Gymnas, where I played the acoustic and electric guitar.  Over the past year, I’ve worked at Rema 1000, and I’ve also gained experience as a lifeguard at various locations. The opportunity to work at GAC Norway caught my attention through two friends who work at Mongstad—they had nothing but great things to say about the company. So, when the chance came up, I knew I had to take it.

What excites you most about your role at GAC Norway?

I’m really excited to learn about a new and exsiting field. The shipping industry is completely different from anything I’ve done before, and I’m eager to dive in and understand the details of this profession.

How do you unwind after a day at work, and what keeps you motivated? Outside of work, I stay active by running regularly, even though I’m not a fan of it. It’s a bit of a love-hate relationship, but it helps keep me motivated and clear-headed.

What’s something about you that might surprise your colleagues?

I think most people would be surprised to know that I’m a preparedness leader in Nordhordland Røde Kors. It’s a role I take seriously, and it’s taught me a lot about teamwork, leadership, and being ready for anything.

What are your goals as you start your journey at GAC Norway?

My main goal is to quickly learn the procedures and become a fully independent agent.

What skills or knowledge are you hoping to develop further in your new role?

Since I’m new to the shipping industry, I’m very interested in learning everything I can. It’s an exciting challenge, and I’m eager to absorb as much knowledge as possible while gaining hands-on experience.

With Torbjørn joining the team, we’re confident that his passion and dedication will be a great asset to GAC Norway. We look forward to supporting him on his journey with us. Welcome aboard, Torbjørn!
