We're Excited to Welcome Anja Wik Opdal: Our New Control Tower Coordinator

We're happy to introduce Anja, who joined GAC Norway's Bergen office on September 16th. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from BI Norwegian Business School and an MSc in Economics and Business Administration from the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH). Anja has had a varied career journey: she spent nearly six years at Søstrene Grene, worked at Rema 1000 Dreggen during the pandemic, and most recently was a Customer Consultant and Shift Supervisor at Sbanken—a concept from DnB. After a gap year, she's ready for new experiences with us. Let's welcome her to the team!

Where did you grow up?

I grew up in Åsane, Bergen, so I’m a true local to this city. Living next to the forest, I spent a lot of time enjoying the outdoors and making the most of natural surroundings. I come from a family of five and am the youngest of three siblings, with an older brother and sister. For many years, we've been a bicontinental family, which has given med plenty of experience with traveling and staying connected across distances.

What motivated you to want to join GAC Norway?

I was motivated to join GAC Norway because I'm eager to dive into a new industry where i can learn and grow. The shipping industry has always been close to home in Bergen, but my direct exposure has been limited. Joining GAC Norway offers a fantastic opportunity to deepen my knowledge while also embracing the international environment I'm passionate about. In an international company like GAC Norway, the world feels a bit closer, and I’m excited to be part of that.

What excites you most about your role at GAC Norway?

I’m excited about the opportunity to meet and collaborate with the talented team at GAC Norway and to deepen my understanding of the shipping industry. The chance to learn from experienced professionals and contribute is particularly motivating for me.

What are your goals as you start your journey at GAC Norway?

My goals at GAC Norway are to quickly integrate into the team, build strong relationships with colleagues, and gain a thorough understanding of the shipping industry. I aim to contribute effectively to projects and develop my skills to support the company's objectives and growth.

What skills or knowledge are you hoping to develop further in your new role?

I aim to improve my skills in coordinating logistics operations, gain a deeper understanding of supply chain processes, and further enhance my problem-solving abilities.

If you could travel to any offices in the GAC World, where would it be and why?

if I could travel to any GAC office in the world, I'd choose either Tokyo or Sydney. Japans culture fascinates me, and I'd love to immerse myself in it by exploring the country, possibly hitting the slopes and visit a blue zone. Australia, on the other hand, would be an incredible adventure. Who wouldn't want to experience life down under?

What makes you happy at work or when away from the job?

At work, I'm happiest when I have supportive and positive collages. Outside of work, I cheris quality time with my family and friends. Exploring new experiences, trying delicious food, and learning something new also bring me great joy. I love spending time in the mountains or on the water, especially skiing and swimming. I also ejoy climbing, but I balance out the action with more relacing activities like cooking and reading. I’m also passionate about creating things with my hands, which I find both fun and fulfilling.

Anja says: "I'm excited to get to know everyone and contribute to the team. I'm always up for a chat about anything, so feel free to reach out!"

With Anja joining the team, we're confident that her passion and dedication will be a great asset to GAC Norway. We look forward to supporting her on her journey with us. Welcome aboard, Anja!
